Well, this was another lovely walk (but then lots are, especially as the time passes and you only have photos to look at!). No really, it was a good one. A beautiful day, clear and calm.. maybe a touch too still for the temperature! I did this one with fellow Pandani members and the weather was so nice we were in no rush to get back at all.. so much so that we got home the following day.. well, early morning!
We drove down to the start, just past the Sentinel range, as the route we took took us up and over the end of the Sentinel range (quite a sharp and immediate uphill that one) before descending through a little bit of forest and scrub (not bad at all if you take the path we took). You break out into the open just before you reach the creek (very nice for a refill on a hot day!), then head up on an open lead to the summit.. very nice walking, and stunning views.
We were so pleasantly lulled by the view and the weather that we sat on top for rather a while before heading back. On the return trip when we popped up out of the scrub we sat for a little while on a small rocky outcrop watching the colours of the sun set on the mountains of the southwest :). That did mean a longish steepish downhill by head torch, but it was so very worth it!!
All up: 12.9km, approx 13 hrs, 1392m ascent.
